Good nutrition is a key foundational pillar upon which good health and any form of athletic success must be built. People often ask me what should my race-day nutrition look like? The reality is that most endurance athletes only have two or three 'A' races each year with perhaps a handful more that are supporting those big goals, so the question is 'do you really want to focus on getting your nutrition right on just a few days each year! If you can get your nutrition right and make good choices on a day to day basis then race day will be a much more rewarding experience.
Good nutrition does not have to mean boring food with no taste, quite the opposite some of the most delicious food available is also the most healthy and will help fuel your endurance training, challenges and aspirations.
It does not have to mean hours of preparation, again some of the best recipes are quick and easy and can be produced from ingredients that are all readily available.
Getting the all important mix of proteins, fats and carbohydrates is crucial to maintain health and wellbeing, fuel to sustain athletic performance and the building blocks for the repair and recovery process.
